OnePlus One Available Without Invite Till Stocks Last for Black Friday
OnePlus, as a
part of its Black Friday deal, is offering its 'flagship killer'
smartphone and a bunch of accessories for the One handset, without any
invite system.
The offer banner on the OnePlus.net website states that the handset will be available to order without invite till stocks last. An official forum post adds the offer "is exclusive to Black Friday, so act fast." NDTV Gadgets however was able to confirm the OnePlus One offer is valid for 72 hours, though of course, the 'till stocks last' caveat still exists.

Mysterious Bright, Greenish Object Streaks
Mysterious Bright, Greenish Object Streaks Across the Sky
People across parts of the country turned their gaze skyward Monday, with two objects spotted in the night sky.
The first object was reported after 6 p.m. across 11 states, from
Georgia to Pennsylvania. The object appears to have been a meteor, Bill
Cooke of the NASA Meteoroid Environment Office said.
Benwood Police Sgt. Luke Thomas in West Virginia captured dash-cam video showing a bright, greenish object coming from the sky.
A second object was spotted about an hour later over Chicago.
“The Chicago event appears to be a slow mover; could be a piece of space junk,” NASA’s Cooke said. “We’re checking into that as well.”
U.S. Obama: Authorities Looking Into Celeb 'Secret Files' Hack
Obama: Authorities Looking Into Celeb 'Secret Files' Hack
In an exclusive interview with ABC News today,
President Obama confirmed authorities were investigating whether
hackers had indeed obtained and posted online financial information
belonging to his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, and nearly a dozen
celebrity A-listers and political heavy hitters.
"We should not be surprised that if you've got hackers that want to dig
in and devote a lot of resources, that they can access this
information," Obama said. "Again, not sure how accurate but ... you've
got web sites out there that tell people's credit card info. That's how
sophisticated they are."
On Monday, a web site posted what hackers claim to be Social Security
numbers, credit reports, former addresses and personal banking
information of celebrities and top Washington, D.C., officials.
The hackers claim to have what appears to be first lady's credit report, Social Security number and phone numbers.
Cyber ransom tactics on the rise, says Telstra

Telstra’s top technology security executive has called out an
increase in attacks by cyber criminals seeking to hold computers to
ransom as a growing concern for Australian businesses. The telco’s chief information security officer, Mike Burgess, said hackers were becoming less interested in stealing information and more keen to simply gain control of workers’ computers.
So-called ransomware occurs when individuals who may hold sensitive company data are targeted and attacked. They are often tricked into clicking on a link in a personalised email, which then compromises their machine.
“A trend increase now is ransomware. We see phishing emails being used not to steal data but to lock up, encrypt your laptop or your files and then hold you to ransom,” Mr Burgess told The Australian Financial Review.
“I have seen targeted instances of that where the phish is well targeted against people who will most likely be holding sensitive data. The crooks may think if they go after the lawyers, or someone in mergers and acquisitions, that the company may want to pay a ransom for that PC.”
Individuals and businesses are beginning to realise the importance of protecting data, but it is taking time. Company directors are placing a greater importance on cyber security as an all-year around issue, not just one that is addressed once a year.
“Humans have long understood the physical threat because it’s in our DNA,” Mr Burgess said. “Cyber threat is intangible just given cyberspace and the internet isn’t that old, it is not yet in our personal or corporate DNA to handle this particular threat.”
Perth gets half Telstra’s ‘foreign’ complaints

The next time you get mad at Telstra’s call centre staff for having poor English there’s a 50 per cent chance you should aim your rage at Perth and not Mumbai or Manilla.
Telstra chief executive David Thodey told an Australian Institute of Company Director's lunch in Sydney on Wednesday that he often got complaints from irate customers about overseas call centres and their apparent failure to understand English.
But further investigations showed that Western Australians were just as bad as call centres in the Philippines and India.
Richard Branson calls for tougher bitcoin rules
Richard Branson calls for tougher bitcoin rules
Jessica Sier and Ruth Liew
In an op-ed for Bitcoin lobby group Australian Digital Currency Commerce Association, Sir Richard said Bitcoin was disrupting the finance sector with customers not satisfied with current major payment networks.
“Making sure that conversations around this are happening at the highest level will hopefully result in common-sense reforms to areas such as taxation and law enforcement, which will be of real benefit to all concerned,” wrote Sir Richard on Tuesday.
“It’s crucial that everyone has the understanding and access to enable it [digital currencies] to work for them.”
Senator Sam Dastyari is heading a Senate inquiry into Bitcoin regulation and has said he will ask Sir Richard to appear at the committee.
Invitations to participate have been sent to 74 different organisations, including the big four Australian banks.
Sir Richard is understood to have pumped around $US30 million ($34 million) into Bitcoin ventures to date. Over $3 billion was poured into technology start ups and entrepreneurs last year alone, and the figure is expected to grow to $8 billion by 2018.
Nearly $11 million has been invested in Australian cryptocurrency ventures during the year to July.

If there's one thing we can use, it's a little Selfie-improvement.
After all, with the very happy exception of ABC's Black-ish, this has been a disappointing fall for new sitcoms. Manhattan Love Story has already vanished; Bad Judge and A to Z soon will; and Mulaney is certain to follow suit.
Russia Ditches
Key Nuclear Security Meeting
Russia has failed to show up at a
meeting planning the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit, U.S and European
officials said Monday, in a potentially serious blow to efforts by
President Barack Obama to cement his legacy as leaving the world safer
from nuclear terrorism than when he took office.
The officials said it
was not immediately clear whether Russia's absence meant that Moscow
meant to boycott the summit itself or if it was a temporary show of
displeasure over Washington's harsh condemnation of Moscow's role in
Ukraine unrest and its lead in orchestrating Western sanctions and other
punitive measures in response. But even if short-term, Russia's no-show
is significant. Only three or four planning meetings are scheduled
before the spring of 2016, when the summit is tentatively set to open.
With Russia a key global player — and one of the world's five formally
recognized nuclear powers — its input is crucial to setting an agenda.
The U.S. president
initiated a string of summits in 2010 aimed at preventing terrorists
from getting their hands on weapons-grade nuclear material. Since then,
the number of countries that have enough material to build a nuclear
weapon has fallen from 39 to 25.

Govt to hold fresh discussions with Dassault to break Rafale logjam
With no significant headway in negotiations for the purchase of 126 multi-role combat jets since July because of a logjam over France's reluctance to give an assurance for Rafale aircraft produced in India, another round of discussions has been scheduled for next month.
