Leaked iPhone 6 Quick Start Guide Tips Design, September 9 Launch: Report
Leaked iPhone 6 Quick Start Guide Tips Design, September 9 Launch: Report
While a number of reports had already been tipping a September 9 launch date for the next generation iPhone, a
new leaked image of the iPhone 6's alleged quick start guide is said to
reconfirm the launch date as well as the design of the phone.
The
September 9 launch date that's been tipped again is in-line with previous leaks that pointed to a mid-September launch for the
next iPhone 6 models. If true, the launch date would correspond to the
second Tuesday of September, a day that Apple used to unveil the iPhone
5c (Review) and iPhone 5s last year. The leaked image has been published by Nowhereelse.fr, who notably leaked iPhone 5s' quick start guide last year ahead of the official announcement, and which was spot-on. The site is claiming the leak iPhone 6 quick start guide is from a trusted and loyal source.
The leaked image of the alleged quick start guide shows the much-anticipated September 9 launch date on the screen with the handset's name as iPhone 6. The alleged quick start guide further corroborate what's has been widely expected based on earlier leaks. The leaked document again tips that the next iPhone would house the power button on the right panel of the device, instead on the top panel seen on current iPhone models.
However, the alleged quick start guide contradicting flurry of earlier leaks show a new design of the iPhone 6. The leaked document shows the alleged iPhone 6 sporting the same straight-edge industrial design, instead of curved edges, seen on the iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. MacRumors also points to some formatting errors on the leaked guide, further questioning its authenticity.
Other features that are seen on the leaked quick start guide that have previously been attributed to the iPhone 6 design are redesigned volume buttons on the left panel; Lightning connector at the bottom, and presence of Touch ID sensor on the home button.
In addition to the leaked quick start guide, Nowhereelse.fr citing the same Chinese supply chain source claims that the 128GB model is confirmed.
Last week, a leaked schematics yet again tipped that the upcoming iPhone might see the introduction of a new 128GB inbuilt storage variant. The alleged iPhone 6 is said to come launch in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage variants.
Another report on Tuesday suggested possible screen resolutions for both the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions to be 750x1334 pixels and 1242x2208 pixels, respectively. Additionally, iPhone 6 was said to not ship with the anticipated new Lightning Cable with reversible ports.

Israel-Palestine: The Only Way To Resolve Conflict
Israel-Palestine: The Only Way To Resolve Conflict
The first thing needed to resolve conflict is to build trust
between the two sides. But a long history of bitter war between Israel
and Palestine makes this difficult. There have been talks to resolve the
dispute earlier but they have not been effective due to the absence of
trust. Attempts at ceasefire have not been long lasting either.

LG L Fino, L Bello Affordable Smartphones With G3-Like UI Launched
LG has announced two new affordable smartphones - the L Fino and L Bello, targeted at the emerging 3G markets.

The Rise of the iWorker
The Rise of the iWorker
Intelligent Workers, or iWorkers – are the future of our changing workforce – and being able to activate and empower these workers in the coming years will be what separates the good companies from great ones.
But are you able to give them everything they need to be most successful?
The Future of Your Workforce
iWorkers are powered by information and the ability to share, access and make use of it – anywhere and anytime. No matter how smart or devoted they are, if these employees don’t have the necessary resources required to manage information effectively, your business won’t see the benefits of a workforce driven by iWorkers.
And what are those benefits? A workforce comprised of iWorkers is stronger, more efficient and agile in their decision-making. With access to the proper tools, they communicate and act on critical business data easily and effectively, allowing them everything they need to make the right choices and complete their goals. They’re more productive and provide a better experience for your clients and customers.
So how can you organically grow an iWorker-led workforce and establish the competitive advantage you’re looking for?
How to Build an iWorker
Unfortunately, many organizations have a number of existing barriers to creating an iWorker-led workforce. Chief among these is an inability to consistently process and share information. This can be for a variety of reasons – including technological barriers, which prove challenging according to business leaders in a recent Ricoh-sponsored report, especially when it comes to mobile information processes (as the graphic represents below). It is simply too difficult for many workers to get the information they need, when they need it, wherever they are.
Another issue for many businesses is the “silofication” of information across departments (also represented in the graphic above). Many existing business processes are built in a disjointed, haphazard way, discouraging rather than promoting the sharing of information. When complicated by inadequate search methods inside the organization, it can make the finding of relevant documents or information a nearly impossible task – not only a productivity killer, but a strong contributor to unhappy employees and a poor company culture.
The companies that will stand out in the iWorker-led world of work are those who can effectively optimize their information sharing processes through the entire business. They are companies who make the right technology investments to empower their employees and boost their productivity. And they are companies with a commitment to establishing a strong organizational culture – a culture that not only encourages your existing workforce to learn and grow, but also attracts top talent interested in being a part of your success.
So, will yours be a company that aims to stand out and establish their competitive advantage? It all starts by looking inward, and recognizing how changing what you do internally can drive real business results.

Should Your Company Consider Using Drones?
Should Your Company Consider Using Drones?
The technology is hardly bleeding edge. Unmanned aircraft were used for warfare all the way back during the Vietnam War. Yet suddenly, everyone seems to be talking about, thinking about, planning for use of, or worrying about privacy invasions from the aviation industry calls unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs—or drones, to everyone else.
Why now? Drones are an important part of the Internet of Things, and thus the Internet of Everything. They can be summoned to carry objects from one location to another, providing the instant fulfillment online shoppers want, as well as near-instant access to medical or mechanical supplies in situations where getting those items quickly can save lives. Equipped with wi-fi, they can provide broadband connectivity on demand to places where it would otherwise be unavailable. Equipped with video cameras, they can show us what’s going on in locations where we might otherwise have to guess. Equipped with RFID antennas or sensors, they can help us track objects or people, or alert us to changing environmental conditions.
Someday they could form an “Internet of Airborne Things,” as some envision it. And recently drones have become affordable. 3D Robotics, the company co-founded by Chris Anderson, former editor ofWired, says it ships about 50 drones a day, most costing less than $1,000.
The biggest obstacle to drone adoption so far is neither technological nor economic, but legislative. The FAA has long banned drones, other than for personal use, from U.S. airspace, ban that’s complicated by the fact that commercial drones personal drones are often the exact same devices--which means the FAA must figure out why a drone is in the air to know if it’s legal or not.
The FAA recently grounded many drones, some before they were even invented, by declaring that drones gathering news information are commercial and thus illegal for now, and so are the delivery drones Amazon plans to develop.
That’s likely to change, however. The FAA Modernization and Reform Act, passed in 2012, gave the FAA until September 2015 to create a framework for licensing commercial drones. With that deadline on the horizon, this summer the FAA issued its first commercial drone license to BP.
Now that BP has broken the ice others are sure to follow, and some estimate there will be 30,000 civilian drones criss-crossing our airspace by decade’s end. It’s more than time for smart technology leaders to start thinking about how drones might or might not fit in with your plans. Consider:
Could your organization benefit from using drones?
Why would it want to? Right now, the answer is most likely yes if it needs to oversee conditions in remote locations that are tough to monitor. That’s the purpose of BP’s drone license: The oil company will use drones with sensors and cameras to monitor its pipelines, roads, and equipment at Prudhoe Bay.And drones can provide powerful security support as well. In many countries where commercial drones are legal, governments and wildlife groups are using them to watch over endangered speciesand reduce poaching. It’s easy to see how many organizations could monitor their facilities for intrusion or theft more effectively with airborne drones than with human or canine security guards. Likewise, drones have been used to facilitate more than 1,400 search and rescue missions, and helped find more than 300 living people, although the FAA frowns on this use as well.
Drones are also a great way to get a look at a location or facility—and let customers and other constituents get a view of it as well. This is why drones are appealing to news organizations (which currently use larger and more expensive helicopters for this task) and filmmakers, who sometimes use unlicensed drones to get those great aerial shots.
And just because the FAA says delivery drones are illegal for now, don’t count them out forever. The FAA document seems designed not to ban delivery drones exactly, but to “clarify” what common sense already dictates: That such use does not qualify as “Hobby or Recreation.” Amazon, like BP, will need a license to fly its drones, but there was never any reason to think otherwise.
Another more surprising use for drones is to enable the Internet itself. DARPA is already providingsuch hotspots to the military, and Facebook and Google have each announced plans to do the same for people not currently reached by broadband. For companies that need to provide wireless Internet access in locations that don’t have it, drones might be a very viable option, since even some very inexpensive models can provide a wireless signal.
If drones can provide some real benefits, the new technology may also come with some challenges. Among them:
How will they integrate with your network?
To truly take advantage of drone technology and make it part of your IoT deployment, the devices will need to integrate with existing networks and systems. That leads to the question of what operating system the drones might use, very much up for grabs at the moment.
Then there’s the data. Drones, like other Internet of Things devices, are likely to deliver an enormous amount of data, perhaps including video that they have collected. They can provide detailed records of people and vehicle movements in remote locations where you would otherwise have limited visibility. They can survey large inventories at a manufacturing location, providing information on what supplies are running low. In Africa, drones are combined with RFID antennas to identify protected animalsfrom the air. Drones combined with RFID tagging could also be a powerful combination in many other settings, from locating vehicles on work sites to tracking precious assets to finding, monitoring, and providing for support employees in outdoor settings. Have a careful plan for what data to collect, and how that data will be processed and stored, before launching that first drone.
The thought of a hacker taking over a drone is scary, and it’s not far-fetched. Last year, a white-hat hacker created a drone that can find and hijack other drones. This year, DARPA unveiled what it claims is a hack-proof drone. Is it truly impervious? Stay tuned.
Who will operate, program, and maintain the drones?
The commercial drone industry will create tens of thousands of jobs and some colleges aren’t waiting for the FAA to get its act together; they’re already offering drone operation courses.
That’s smart: If the industry abruptly takes off—which looks likely once the FAA gives more commercial drones permission to fly—there will be a lot of demand for technicians with the right skills. After web developers and data analysts, will drone operators be the next impossible-to-hire specialists?
It looks like they probably will. So if you’re considering commercial drones, keep in mind you may want to plan for training drone operators too

Chinese, Taiwanese smartphone makers call on India
Chinese, Taiwanese smartphone makers call on India
TAKAFUMI HOTTA, Nikkei staff writer
MUMBAI -- Chinese smartphone manufacturers are
shaking up the Indian market as they rapidly gain popularity and shift
the balance of power in the country's mobile sector.
Since entering the Indian market in July, Beijing Xiaomi Technology has quickly caught on through a special marketing strategy that sell its Mi3 smartphone through limited-quantity, Internet-only sales events.
Xiaomi has been offering a certain number of Mi3s once every week through an online shop of its local partner Flipkart. So far, every time this sales event has been held, the supply of handsets sells out in seconds.
The fifth of these events, held on Tuesday, was no exception. In total, these events have sold far more than 50,000 Mi3 units.
The Mi3 carries a price tag of 13,999 rupees ($249). In a market where smartphones typically go for 4,000 to 5,000 rupees, the Mi3 is not cheap. But it is selling well, perhaps due in large part to the particular way it is marketed.
Xiaomi plans to launch two more models in India soon. One of them, a model called Redmi 1S, will be priced at 6,999 rupees.
More chances
Taiwan's Asustek Computer is also stepping up efforts to cultivate the Indian market for smartphones. The company launched its Zenfone series in India this summer, with the most basic model offered at 5,999 rupees. The series has been selling well.
Indian start-ups, such as Micromax Informatics and Karbonn Mobiles, have done well in the local smartphone market in the past several years, with the two now claiming the second and third spots in market share rankings.
According to U.S. research firm IDC, South Korea's Samsung Electronics commanded a 29% market share in the April-June quarter, followed by Micromax at 18%. For the Indian mobile device market as a whole, Micromax had a 14% share against Samsung's 17%.
Chinese makers, such as Huawei Technologies, have already tried to sell smartphones in India, but they made little impact as local players grew dramatically. Xiaomi's marketing methods, however, has helped push consumers to show interest in new brands.
Motorola Mobility, too, has maintained a certain level of presence in the Indian smartphone market. But the U.S. company is now working toward selling its handset business to China's Lenovo Group. If this happens, competition for bigger slices of the massive Indian smartphone market will likely escalate, with much of the push coming from Chinese and Taiwanese makers.

Moto G Successor Leaked in Images Ahead of September 4 Launch
Moto G Successor Leaked in Images Ahead of September 4 Launch
Ahead of Motorola's September 4 launch event, some leaked images purportedly showing the Moto G2 handset have surfaced online, along with a comparison with the Moto G.
HellomotoHK, the tipster who has been posting images of claimed to be of Motorola's upcoming smartphones in recent few weeks, has again obtained images of the yet-to-be-announced Moto G successor, believed to be dubbed Moto G2.The tipster posted images on Facebook that are claimed to show the front and rear, as well as the changeable shells of the unannounced Moto G2. The leaked front panel image shows the handset sporting dual speaker grills both on the top and bottom of the display, like the Moto E. The rear panel leaked image shows the primary camera accompanied by an LED flash, and also shows the non-removable battery on the Moto G2. Another posted image by HellomotoHK shows the changeable shells of Moto G.
The Facebook post said, "You can fully preview the next generation Moto G here! Same Dual-SIM design plus microSD memory card support. The back cover is removable, so you can also customize the phone with the Motorola Shells."
In another Facebook post, HellomotoHK has highlighted some of the major upgrades expected in the Moto G2 such as a 5-inch display when compared to 4.5-inch on the Moto G; thinner bezels than its predecessor; 8-megapixel camera instead of the 5-megapixel found on the Moto G, and in addition, front stereo speakers apart from support for microSD card.
It seems Motorola is taking note of shortcomings of the Moto G and acknowledged one of its biggest issues - limited inbuilt storage. If HellomotoHK is to be believed, the Moto G2 will come with expandable storage support. Notably, Motorola has definitely acknowledged this shortcoming in the past, and the release of the Moto G 4G with microSD card support in May for select markets is evidence of the cognisance.
Other rumoured specifications of the Moto G2 include a Snapdragon 400 chipset with a quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 CPU; an Adreno 305 GPU; 1GB of RAM; 2-megapixel front camera; 8GB of internal storage, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Notably, out of the rumoured eight devices said to debut before Christmas, the successors to the popular Moto X and Moto G - rumoured to be called the Moto X+1 and Moto G2 respectively - alongside the much-awaited Moto 360 smartwatch, are likely to launch at a pre-IFA event on September 4.
Motorola India has also confirmed an event on September 5 in the country, where the company is expected to launch the successors of the Moto X and Moto G.

The Sharp Aquos Crystal will be also available on Sprint's prepaid brands Virgin Mobile (in Black) and Boost Mobile (in White). In both cases, the Aquos Crystal will be priced at $149.99 (approximately Rs. 9,100).The highlight of Sharp's new Aquos Crystal smartphone is the nearly bezel-free touchscreen on device. The smartphone also sports Harman Kardon audio technologies.
The Aquos Crystal comes with a 5-inch S-CG Silicon LCD HD (720x1280 pixels) edge-to-edge display. The smartphone runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8926) coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. It comes with built-in 8GB storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
The smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera, while there is a 1.2-megapixel front camera also onboard. The rear camera comes with features such as scenery modes, framing advisor, night catch, HDR, Panorama, sequential shots, and shutter detect. Interestingly, the Sharp Aquos Crystal features the front-facing camera at the bottom of the front panel of the handset; something we also saw in the Sony Xperia ZL.
Sharp's Aquos Crystal packs a 2040mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 13 hours of talk time, while it measures 131x67x10mm and weighs 141 grams. The smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, 3G, and 4G LTE connectivity options.
The Japanese electronics giant has sought to include some interesting audio features for Aquos Crystal users, with Harman's Clari-Fi audio restoration technology, and LiveStage signal processing for a 'lifelike headphone listening experience'. Sharp is also touting the Clip Now feature, which lets users take screenshots with a swipe and save them with an embedded URL for easy sharing.
Commenting on the launch, Yoshisuke Hasegawa, Executive Managing Officer of Sharp Corporation said, "US consumers have long trusted the Sharp Aquos brand to deliver exceptional picture quality. We are thrilled to introduce the first smartphone from Sharp's groundbreaking Aquos line of devices to be available in the US, with the launch of the Aquos Crystal Smartphone in the U.S. and Japan. The already successful Aquos brand is taking another step forward among US consumers by adding the Crystal smartphone, which marries innovative technology with a vibrant display, as customers have come to expect from Sharp Aquos products."
While there are numerous interesting smartphones launched by Japanese and Taiwanese manufacturers in the far east that never see global availability, Sharp's Aquos Crystal marks one of the few such devices to make it to foreign shores. The move clearly shows Softbank's backing in Sprint, and the launch statement of David Owens, senior vice president-Product Development for Sprint, echoes this, "The combined power of SoftBank and Sprint will bring our customers this high-end device for an extraordinarily value. We are thrilled to welcome Sharp to the US wireless market. Aquos Crystal will quickly become a must-have smartphone, showcasing Sharp's strength in display technology."

Panasonic introduced the Eluga series of smartphones in 2012 by launching the Eluga DL1 and the Eluga Power for European markets. The downside is that competition is fierce and companies have to innovate constantly. We try to find out if the Panasonic Eluga U can distinguish itself from the rest of the smartphones that have flooded the market in the last month alone.

A Handful of Pistachios May Work Wonders for Diabetics
A Handful of Pistachios May Work Wonders for Diabetics
Pistachios have long been praised for their health benefits. A lot of
research has been done previously to explore the link between
consumption of pistachios and blood sugar levels.
This latest study adds to the existing theory, the results of which appeared in the Journal of the American Heart Association. According to this research, eating pistachios may reduce the vascular (relating to blood vessels) response to stress in type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of the disease characterized by high blood sugar levels due to insulin resistance. Obesity is thought to be the main risk factor of developing type 2 diabetes. The study showed that two serving of pistachios, consumed by diabetics everyday, lowered the body's response to stress and improved heart functions.
According to Sheila G. West, Professor of Biobehavioral Health and Nutritional Sciences, "In adults with diabetes, two servings of pistachios per day lowered vascular constriction during stress and improved neural control of the heart."
Although nuts are high in fat, they contain good fats, fibre, potassium and antioxidants. "Given the high risk of heart disease in people with diabetes, nuts are an important component of a heart healthy diet in this population," West added.
The study was conducted on patients with type 2 diabetes to examine the effects of pistachios. The patients were directed to follow one of two test diets - a standard heart-healthy diet with 27 percent fat and seven percent saturated fat and a diet containing two servings per day of pistachios, about 3 ounces or 20 percent of calories from pistachio nuts.
A typical research participant consumed about 150 pistachio nuts per day.The pistachio diet contained 33 percent fat and 7 percent saturated fat. "After the pistachio diet, blood vessels remained more relaxed and open during the stress tests," West said.
They found that systolic blood pressure during sleep was particularly affected by pistachios. "Average sleep blood pressure was reduced by about four points and this would be expected to lower workload on the heart," West noted. The researchers also recorded improvements in heart rate variability, a measure of how well the nervous system controls heart function.

Soft Drinks Can Cause Permanent Damage to Teeth
Soft Drinks Can Cause Permanent Damage to Teeth
A recent study conducted by the researchers at the University of
Adelaide in Australia, holds that drinks that are high in acidity can be
harmful for children's teeth. The acid present in soft drinks, fruit
juices and other sugary and aerated drinks can cause permanent damage to
their teeth. Dental researchers call it the 'high acidity triple
threat' that can have long-term effects on growing children. Besides
this, tooth grinding and acidic reflux can also affect dental health.
The study was published in the Journal of Dentistry and is the first of its kind to demonstrate the lifelong damage that can be caused by acidity to the teeth within the first 30 seconds of acid attack.

BlackBerry Passport: Fat, weird, but CrackBerry addicts might love it
BlackBerry Passport: Fat, weird, but CrackBerry addicts might love it
That was my first thought as I finally got my hands on the BlackBerry Passport, which has a squat, squarish look thanks to the mash-up of a compact physical keyboard with a 4.5-inch-by-4.5-inch (11.4 cmx11.4 cm) display.
OK, I didn't exactly get my hands fully around the Passport -- the BlackBerry rep insisted on holding it at all times -- but I got to touch it, test out the keyboard, and in one awkward moment, have the rep shove the phone down my front jeans pocket.

LG G3 Stylus leaks in official video, takes on Galaxy Note with big screen and pen
An official video reveals the as-yet-unannounced phablet-sized spin-off from LG's flagship smartphone.
The
LG G3 has a great screen and a camera with lasers in, but one thing it
doesn't have is a pen. The LG G3 Stylus solves that, appearing in a new
video showing off its Galaxy Note-rivalling phablet size and stylus. The LG G3 Stylus is the pen-pushing partner to LG's flagship the LG G3, which went on sale this summer. The other spin-off of the G3 is the LG G3 S, also known as the G3 Beat in Asia.
Although it's yet to be properly announced by LG, the G3 Stylus is more than a rumour: it appears in an official video published by the folks at LG. The video is an ad for the G3 Beat, a breezy fairy tale of boy-meets-girl-then-boy-nearly-breaks-girl's-phone. At the end of the video the G3 and G3 Beat are joined by a third phone, complete with a pen, identified as the G3 Stylus.
